Disappearing Services

It is sad to report the continuing decline in service to the people of Cornwall. We know that many rural bus services especially across the eastern half of Cornwall are threatened. Even if they remain in place the frequency of buses is likely to be affected. I am at present trying to gather evidence of the impacts on peoples lives of the cuts to the supporting people budget. I know that many of our older residents now get only one or two visits in a month where before they were visited daily as standard.

The really vexed question that my residents are contacting me about is parking charges in Liskeard. The proposal is to give 2 hours parking for £1 in an effort to get people to stay in the town and see what the shops have to offer. However those who just want to go to the bank or pick up a paper feel that this charge is excessive. As usual we have asked for the return of the parking card which we brought in at Caradon but are told that this would lose too much income for the council. To my mind all these issues are far more important than a stadium for Cornwall but I do recognise that this is probably due to lack of sporting passion.
