News from Truro

The dust is beginning to settle and the Leader and cabinet have been elected. I decided to stay with a scrutiny role on the Scrutiny Management Committee. From there I am the scrutiny representative to Homes and Communities Portfolio Advisory Committee. Hopefully the new governance arrangements will bring greater democratic input and better governance to Cornwall Council.

I have been remiss in posting lately due to the pressures of the election and then the period of time needed to put the new administration in place. Even now I do not know whether I shall be reappointed to the ‘Council of Governors’ at Derriford Hospital or any of the other outside appointments which I filled for the last CC term.

I should, if this all works out, have more time in my division to work closer to home. I will keep you updated on developments. Having also been elected (but without a contest) to St Cleer Parish Council I was delighted to be elected by them as Vice Chairman. It is perhaps just as well that I had made the decision to cut back on the visits to Truro as this holds the potential to really work for the benefit of the community now and in the future.
