Regime Change

Well we shall see just how much changes. Both candidates for the leadership were promising much more democratic input into Cornwall Councils decision making in the future. The decision to support Mr Currie was taken because because he was stating his reluctance to press on with the Joint Venture and a commitment to the restoration of powers of scrutiny as opposed to Mr Burdens desire to adjust the timetable and leave the decision on Support Services to the new council in May, although he too spoke of the restoration of democracy. We were convinced by the strength of feeling shown in the massive petition to Council by the people of Cornwall. I abstained in the final vote because having asked Mr Currie a direct question on an area of policy which is very important in my mind I was not happy with his reply. I am now waiting to see just who is appointed to the new cabinet
