Varied life of a councillor

This has been a very interesting morning. A rare time to catch up with work that needed time to complete properly but has included

Youth Homelessness and the need for this the be addressed in a way which will protect them from harm and possible unhelpful influences. It isnt just about any roof will do. If the wrong direction is taken at this stage in their lives there is a very real danger that these young people will form the next generation of rough sleepers.

Common grazing and the dangers to cattle and traffic if the two are in close proximity. The law on commons is complicated and not always understood by those who are concerned, although not directly, with these issues. Also the lack of understanding of well-meaning people who take garden and kitchen waste to feed ponies and other animals. This is so dangerous both because the food provided can kill the animals it is meant to help and because it attracts them to the roadsides where they are in danger from vehicles.

I have also been talking about the need for insulation of Park Homes where, hopefully, some work is in hand to enable progress with this issue.

Next Tueday is the council meeting where the budget and Council Tax for 2012-13 will be set. There will be a lot of words spoken but at the end of the day I suspect the decision will be a party political one.
