Work for the New Year

I have been raising the issue of people who live in ‘Park Homes’ in various arenas. At Council I have brought forward the need for these homes, sometimes called mobile homes to be properly insulated. Because the occupiers have to buy their electricity from the site owner rather than from the electricity companies they are not able to get grants to provide the insulation in the same way as other people in more traditional housing. Many of these Park home residents are elderly and most are not at all well off. They have sometimes chosen to move to such a home to free some of the capital in their home to enable them to remain independent. Because they lose heat so easily it is very difficult and expensive to keep these properties warm. I have also brought the issue to the attention of the South West Forum on Ageing with the expectation that it will be highlighted to the government through the UK Forum.  I shall continue to ask for help for residents to help them carry out the required work.
