St Cleer General Cemetery Trustee

The St Cleer Parish Projects Group obtained Heritage Lottery Funding to refurbish the Chapel and clear and tidy the cemetery itself. The work took two years but I came to love the place as a haven of peace within the village. I know other people who enjoy just sitting on the bench outside the chapel door and on a fine day this is an excellent place to chill out. The constitution, which is written on a stone above the door, states that there should be twenty trustees but currently we are only six. Due to constantly rising costs we wonder how many years we can continue, but the grant each year from the Parish Council just keeps our heads above the water. This grant is currently worth £300 per annum and together with income from new burials represents all income.
