Vital for future of the Parish

Vital for the future of the Parish – Neighbourhood Plans are the one chance for the community as a whole to decide what their area should be like in the coming 20 years.

We suddenly have a large number of houses coming through the planning pipeline, it could mean as many as 150 new properties altogether. We definitely need some new homes for the 20 or so people on the Homechoice register but I feel that new homes should be for the LOCAL community and am conscious of the need for gradual assimilation of new populations and the spaces available in our schools.

We hope to hold a public meeting to restart the process of planning for the future taking forward what the community wants from a grass roots perspective. Your views are vital as is the involvement of a core team of residents who feel they would like to do this. We shall start with a blank canvass so that what you want will make up the picture as we go.

I know that many of you were not happy after the last meeting, please give it another chance and come along to talk to us. If you would like to be part of the core team please let me know, it would be good to have representatives of all areas and all ages. In fact it is vital to have some young people as it is their future we are talking about.

It would also be great to work with other parishes on the southern part of the moor to have joined up policies on things like Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the World Heritage Site and similar issues which cross parish boundaries.

Look out for announcements on banners, leaflets and this website and my new Facebook page (which I admit is still something of a mystery)
